Description
Vintage Banjo-Mandolin, 1930s, Perloid Fingerboard & Peghead, Rounded "Shell" BackThis instrument has been in the family since around the late 1930s, I have been told. It does not have a maker indicated but I have been told it is likely a Kay due to the headstock shape. It appears to have all its parts and the head is intact. The metal band holding the head is slightly lifted from years of string tension. The tailpiece says "Grover Patent Presto" and may not be the original.
The back of the body has wear and has a piece of the plywood missing where it possibly caught on a belt buckle? Be sure to look at the photos using the magnifying feature so you understand its condition. It was played and not coddled.
It does not have a case.
I am not a player so I truly don't know much about this instrument but it appears that it could easily be put in playable condition. It needs a good cleaning. It is strung like a violin so someone wanting to add a banjo sound to their skill set could likely figure out how to play it fairly easily.
I'd love to find it a new home where someone would enjoy it so I have priced it to allow someone to update the strings and get any adjustments made without breaking a budget.
It is being sold "As Is".
