    Description

A most unusual ukulele banjo from around the 1920s. A paper inside the case identifies this banjo as being made by a William A. Cole however, multiple searches turn up no such maker.
The original head is included with signatures from Washington DC and a date of April 9, '23 or possibly '28.
I've been working with banjo ukes almost 30 years and have never seen shoes like are on this banjo. They stick out and serve as a flange for the large fancy bird's eye maple resonator.
The headstock is also unlike any I have seen in over 30 years. Very unusual and attractive.
It sports a Remo manufactured head, an expensive addition; however, the original flesh hoop is also included so a skin head could be installed if preferred.
The body is shallow but the walls are thick. There appears to be some type groove in the top of the rim under the head. It had been suggested that there is a missing tone ring but the groove is so wide that I doubt that is the case. As it is It creates a sort of sound chamber under the head at the rim.
The original case sports a faded but identifiable and very attractive flapper girl wearing a swimsuit  image done in ink.
Sold as is as described and pictured. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility based on location. See my feedback. Ask for more pictures, ask questions and bid with confidence.
The price is firm as this is a special and unusual piece with a big and attractive voice.
