UGANDA HANDICRAFT MUSICAL INSTRUMENT SIMILAR TO BANJO & PAPERBACK BOOK

Description

Purchased in Uganda during the 1970s this rare collectible is a musical instrument similar to a banjo.  It is made of cowhide and measures 23 inches by 7 inches. The six strings are all intact but two of the pegs have disappeared over the years.  A very interesting book called FACTS ABOUT UGANDA which was published in 1969 will accompany the instrument. A page is devoted to information about the rich tradition of fine craftsmanship in making many things including musical instruments.  There are 100 pages in this paperback book and many photographs in both black and white and color. Published before Idi Amin it is an important bit of history. Excellent condition
