Description
This natural comb honey from Northern Virginia was made by my bees in hives located in Arlington County. You will receive one square comb filled with honey made by the bees from local wildflower nectar. The comb honey has a net weight of 12 to 14 ounces and comes in a basswood frame measuring 4.25" X 4.25" X 1.8". The basswood frame is wrapped in cellophane and enclosed in a paper carton with a window. Enjoy a taste of honey in the comb the way it was made a century ago. What is comb honey? It is the only sweet in the world that is neither made nor processed by man. The bees build their delicate comb, and fill it with honey, in the very container you purchase. Honey that has been extracted from the honeycomb and strained is not the same. Usually it has been heated, to retard granulation. If it is commercially packed, then it has been heated and filtered as well. It is good, but not as good as comb honey - the most exquisite delicacy to be found any place in nature. Put comb honey on anything you wish to sweeten, or eat it as is. The beeswax won't hurt you; in fact, it has little nutritional value, it is good for you in other ways. It is your guarantee that the honey mingled with it is the perfection of what honey should be.
To use this product: Remove the wood frame from the paper carton and remove the cellophane wrapper. Run a sharp knife around the inner edge of the wood frame to let the honeycomb drop out onto a small dish.
