Description
the hand painted shaker with violetsdo note, there are 2 scratches, one in the glaze and the other that reaches the porcelain, on the side of the face near the ear. next to the scratch that is in the glaze only, there is some scuffing. (see second image). they are very subtle unless you are looking for them (in my view). otherwise i can find no issues. retains its original plug.
very pretty english-made little bunny form shaker/sifter that has a large capacity. sugar? salt? pepper? shaker. has only been used as shelf decor since it was acquired. i don't believe this has ever been used as a shaker. since this is by hammersley & co (more on their interesting story below), this vintage dates the shaker from 1932 to 1974, when the pottery was absorbed by another.
the ear span (from tip to tip) is 2". the height to the top of an ear is 4 1/4". from tip of nose to outer most part of tail, the cutie pie is 5". width at his back hips is 4" (his widest point).

(from: thepotteries.org/features/hammersley.htm)
note: this article which follows originally appeared in a 1956 book
british potters and pottery today
, is based mainly upon accounts provided mainly by the firms themselves.
this well established firm, which specialises in the production of richly decorated bone china of fine quality nd good design, was established about a century ago and is in every sense a family concern, although when first founded the name of asbury, was linked with that of hammersley.
the first partners were two cousins, titus hammersley and edward asbury, who launched the venture under the name of hammersley and asbury and continued as such until titus died in 1875. the former had also a partnership in the firm of harvey adams and co., china manufacturers of longton, but on his death his eldest son, george, took over the direction of the business, and acquired the harvey adams concern, changing the name and combining both under the title they use today.
from thence onward the history of the firm is of hammersley succeeding hammersley until we come to the present directors, eric and leslie hammersley who are upholding the prestige of the alsager pottery, continuing to carry on the tradition of fine workmanship which has been the firm's ambition for the last hundred years – a tradition which has earned the business a wide reputation both in the home and overseas markets.

the fine print
the images are the majority of the listing description, so take a look at them closely.
shipping costs have really increased—this is calculated into the buy-it-now price.
i am not able to sell individual items from items i have listed as a group. i just don't have the stamina to create new listings for those. i apologize for that. i haven't initially individually listed items because i don't have enough listing slots to so.
trying to downsize some, though extremely melancholically.
shipping time: i otherwise work more than full time and my health isn't great, so kindly excuse the longer handling time. if i am able to ship sooner, i absolutely will do that
. i appreciate you taking the time to view my listing.
