Description
From the 1930s-40s. Italian American elegant casual trousers. Casual Elegant, did not belong to a suit -- just the trousers -- were worn with shirt and vest or sweater -- Beautiful fabric and color (pale-or dusted sage Green) -- assumed Gaberdine cloth -- someone who knows cloth better than I would be able to identify immediately -- superb workmanship by Italian tailor -- Comfortable Loose Pants -- Impeccably cut -- fine fabrics ONLY, always the choice of the Italian artisans who have always treated fabrics and materials to wear/carry in a bag etc. as if ART. MID- Waist (without an obvious waist band as it were, but with belt loops)-- sitting at the bellybutton, mid to higher torso as pants in those days sat on the waist, not on the hip -- long column like loose legs -- Pleated & darted front for extra fullness -- not pleated in back for a flatter, more slimming back side -- two side deeply set pockets (right pocket has a hole and needs mending) -- excellent condition -- There's a built in pocket in the waist area for a lighter or matches. Two Back side pockets without Flaps, but with buttons that close the pocket for security. Not cuffed but hemmed. No NOTED separately-seamed Waist band but has belt loops for the waist area -- 7 to be exact. Other than the hole in the right pocket, no real flaw was found. Zipper works, etc. Italian MEASUREMENTS: LENGTH from Waist to hem: 36 inches INSEAM: 25 inches. ACROSS FRONT WAIST BAND: 18 inches seam to seam ACROSS BACK WAIST BAND: 18 INCHES (side seams seem to be wider in back). TAPE MEAUSURE IN WAIST: 37 inches. High quality material, assumed gaberdine but not an expert on fabric. High quality cotton/Muslin pockets, and lined items inside. Excellent work-- Very minor wear and tear on these trousers other than what was mentioned. A thread or two shows on the waist band -- a little wear here or there but in reality --great condition for the age. Tailored for a family of Italian American immigrants of not such grand heights as theJohn Waynes
of Hollywood perhaps, but more than grand in stature than anything Hollywood had to offer!
