    Description

Alvarez 5-String Bowtie Mastertone-style Banjo, Made in Japan, with case.
Alvarez Deluxe banjo made in Japan in the 1970’s. In excellent shape with all original parts, except for the bridge and head.
The banjo features a rosewood resonator with ornamentation, a mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard  with “bowtie” inlays (to mimic Gibson inlays). The headstock has a rosewood veneer with decorative inlays. Lots of lovely binding work on neck and resonator.
The tuning pegs are Kluson-style stepped tuners, super solid and hard to find.
Fingerboard and frets are in great shape, with minimal wear.
Hardware has almost no wear or discoloration.
Gibson Mastertone-style one piece flange and 20-hole tone ring.
Professionally set up with JD Crowe strings. Easy to play action with no issues on the entire fretboard. Lots of volume with a full, classic tone.
Comes with Epiphone hardshell case from the same era. Case is functional but is in fair/poor condition. Case has a missing latch and has other issues with lining, tolex, and missing latch rivets (see pics). Being provided with banjo to protect the instrument during shipping.
