For sale is a 1928 Gibson flathead banjo with a conversion neck. This was a tenor banjo, model TB2, and at one point was converted to a 5 string. This was commonly done. We had to replace the head with a new Remo 11" coated head. The tailpiece is unique and not original. The neck is mahogany with a maple stripe and a rosewood fretboard. The serial number is 8947-30. Included is a hardshell case. Tuning keys are direct 1:1 ratio. Resonator has many scratches and the chrome plating has worn away on the arm rest lending to the vintage vibe of this 93 year old banjo.
