***MINNESOTA ESTATE SALE FIND***NOT AN EXPERT BUT DID SOME RESEARCH**Neat antique Slingerland May Bell Banjolele (a cross between a Banjo & Ukulele). These were wildly popular in the roaring 20s and all over the country where music was being played! (see last pic-it is for reference only). Measures just over 20" long, and 7" wide. It has a neat wooden resonator piece which comes off, and you can see "Slingerland-MayBell" on the truss. Not sure what size, most others I've seen this size are a "26", but I don't know. I think the round part of the body & resonator is Birds Eye Maple or Burlwood? Not sure what kind of wood the neck is made of Maybe you experts can chime in. Seems to be all original, but again, I'm no expert. The head seems very old, has a lot of wear marks on it. The nut is wood and is worn, but may still hold the strings in place. Here is an easy project for you! All you'll need are some strings, a bridge and an inlay dot on the neck, and it should play well!   Fair/good antique condition, lots of wear from use, needs strings and bridge, missing a round inlay dot on the neck, wooden resonator has several cracks, mostly noticeable from the underside, probably from wood shrinking over the decades, one small piece missing by one of the screws. Nice wood, chrome is ok. *
